PSL title race wide open - Mawiwi

HARARE – With nine games to go in the 2013 Castle Premiership title race, Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi insists at least six teams in still in with a chance of landing the biggest prize in Zimbabwean football.

The Sunshine Boys, recently dislodged from the top of the table by defending champions Dynamos, were held 2-2 by Triangle at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday.

James Jam and Silas Songani scored for Harare City while Pasca Manhanga and a stoppage time Misheck Mburayi penalty saw the two clubs share the spoils in the Lowveld.

Mawiwi’s men are now in second place with 39 points from 21 matches, trailing favourites Dynamos by two points.

“I think is still too early to start talking of the title,” Mawiwi told the Daily News.

“We can’t talk of the championship right now because if you look at it, all top six teams are still in with a chance. The race is still wide open.

“Against Triangle, we played well but lost concentration right at the end of the match.

"We could have done better but that’s the nature of the game. We need to regroup and start focusing on our next matches.

"We don’t want to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure. We want to play our normal game. The good thing is that we are getting the goals (but) we need to defend better.”
