Mechanic illegally sells client's car

HARARE - A 47-year-old mechanic who sold his client’s car and went on to lie to the police that the vehicle had been stolen was granted bail on Friday by Magistrate Anita Tshuma.

Nickson Manyadza was facing a car theft charge.

According to prosecutor Sharon Mashavira, in February this year, Manyadza was given a white BMW323i so that he could repair it.

When the repair job was done, Manyadza allegedly sold the car to one Ishe Zazi for $6 000 without the knowledge of his client.

It is the State’s case that when the complainant went to collect the car at Manyadza’s Machipisa garage, he allegedly lied to her that the vehicle had been stolen.

The two then proceeded to Machipisa Police Station to file a stolen vehicle report but investigations later revealed that the car had been sold.
