Duo face house breaking charge

HARARE - Two Epworth residents were hauled before the courts after they went on an alleged house breaking spree in Westgate, Harare.

Memory Jembere, 34 and Innocent Nyamusakuri, 33 were remanded in custody on Friday by magistrate, Anita Tshuma after it was established that Nyamusakuri was not a first time offender.

They were advised to apply for bail at the High Court and to return for their routine remand on September 16.

It is the State’s case that during the night of August 20, the duo and minder Milanzi who is still at large drove to Westgate and scaled a pre-cast wall to gain entry into the yard.

Once inside, they force opened the kitchen door with an unknown object gaining entry into the house.

The court heard that they proceeded to the lounge where the complainant and their children had fallen asleep, before switching off the television and creeping out of the room unheard carrying it.

Prosecutor Tungamirai Chakurira alleges that they then went to the bedrooms were they took a leather jacket from the main bedroom and other clothing items before leaving the house unnoticed.

Allegations are that later on the same night, the duo and their accomplice proceeded to another house in Westgate.

Using the same modus operandi the alleged house breakers entered the house through the kitchen and stole various electrical gadgets among them a laptop, mobile phone and children’s satchels, before driving away.
