Hubby sleeps with girlfriend in wife's presence

HARARE - A man who reportedly brought his girlfriend into his matrimonial home and had sexual intercourse with her on several occasions in his wife’s presence has appeared in court.

Chipo Musindo brought her husband Marko Kujaira before Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order for physical, emotional and financial abuse.

Musindo told the court her husband would bring his girlfriend into their matrimonial home and sleep with her in her presence.

“When I was eight months pregnant Kujaira started bringing his girlfriend and slept with her on our matrimonial bed in my presence.

We rented one room and he would make me sleep on the floor,”said Musindo.

“He put me under a lot of stress considering I was heavily pregnant at that time. He would assault me if I inquired about the issue.”

The court heard Kujaira’s girlfriend fell pregnant prompting the two to flee to an unknown residence.

“When he discovered that his girlfriend was pregnant, they fled our home and left us with no food and a seven-day-old baby.

“He only returned two months ago after eight months in hiding,” she said.

Kujaira said he was not opposed to the application though he claimed Musindo had lied against him.

“I don’t think there is anything that I can say to convince the court because she fabricated lies.

“She was aware I had taken a second wife though she claims she was my girlfriend,” Kujaira said.

Presiding magistrate Olivia Mariga granted the peace order in favour of Musindo and advised Kujaira to desist from any conduct that infringes on the former’s peace.
