HARARE - Members of the National Assembly were sworn in this morning amidst pomp and fanfare.
Austin Zvoma, the clerk of Parliament, presided over the swearing in ceremony.
Lawmakers later elected Jacob Mudenda and Mabel Chinomona as the speaker of national assembly and deputy speaker respectively.
Mudenda and Chinomona took an oath of office before Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku.
MDC members absconded the election of the presiding officers who were elected unopposed.
The National Assembly was overcrowded with some of the legislators standing in the corridor during the ceremony.
