Have mercy 'Mr President'

EDITOR — Recently, President Robert Mugabe made shocking utterances to the effect that residents from Harare and Bulawayo should go and demand better services from the ones they voted for (MDC).

Now that residents, especially in Harare, are experiencing even worse service delivery as evidenced by total lack of clean safe water and the virtual blackout of the city as there is mostly no electricity most of the time it seems the president really meant his words.

But is this what our bothers, sisters, mothers and fathers sacrificed themselves for in the war of liberation?

Is this the democracy we fought for where it is punishable for someone to vote for anyone other than Zanu PF and its leader?

I thought democracy was supposed to allow for freedom of expression especially so at the ballot. Now it is vote for me or suffer the consequences.

I think the president should be happy with the results as they show the democratic space people are yearning for and it should help him examine his party’s shortcomings in these two cities and act accordingly to win the residents’ votes and not be bitter about it.

Besides not all of us voted for MDC in these cities anyway that means even the Zanu PF supporters who voted for the party will also suffer.

I urge the president to reconsider his stance because in the next five years he will come back seeking the same votes from the very same people.

I think Nehanda Nyakasikana you are just trying to suppoort your party's dirty tricks by spreading nonsense about our President. So you think we dont know what is happening underground that the worsening situation of clean water and electricity are deliberate moves by your party inorder to authenticate your punishment claims. Now wait and see. All those who are playing dirty cards with the lives of people inorder to discredit our President must be dismissed from work and those with the nation at heart get employed. It is even better to employ foreigners who are neutral than having the nation punished by a few misguided elements. So warning to those playing dirty tactics for political gains that we know the truth and it shall come out very soon.

We are sick n tired of this blame game. If you are in charge, be in charge, take charge, u can't blame bystanders for your failures. We know that they will always play the blame game. It's time for self introspection and get working rather than surmise abt perceived enemies that only exist in the figment of your imagination.
