Congress date set: Zinasu

EDITOR — The Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) would like to inform all students, members of the press, civic society partners and the general public that it will be holding its ninth bi-annual congress from October 25 to 27, 2013.

The Zinasu president Pride Mkono has proclaimed dates for the congress in compliance with section 9.3 (2) of the Zinasu constitution and in adherence to generally upheld practices of succession, good leadership and democracy which dictate that periodic leadership renewal is necessary for the proper functioning of any political organisation.

It is our greatest desire that the ninth bi-annual congress will elect selfless, revolutionary and courageous leaders who will continue wedging the students’ struggle in the face of political persecution.

Furthermore, it is our sincerest hope that the ninth bi-annual congress will serve as a platform for the Union to re-group, re-strategise and re-launch the students’ struggle and the struggle for democracy in Zimbabwe.

Zinasu has put in place mechanisms for smooth succession and is confident that the electoral process at the ninth bi-annual congress will be free and fair, credible and a true reflection of the will of the students of Zimbabwe.

Zinasu would like to thank all civic society partners in advance for the support they are going to avail to the Union to ensure that it holds a successful congress.

The venue of the congress will be communicated to the public in due course.

Any requests for further information on this subject are to be directed to the office of the national spokesperson.

For and on behalf of the Zimbabwe National Students Union.

Zechariah Mushawatu
Zinasu national spokesperson
