We are waiting

EDITOR — Reports that President Robert Mugabe said he is going to reward us rural voters, by fulfilling his election promises is great news.

Not that I am for the punishment of Harare and Bulawayo voters, far from it.

My point is, the rural electorate has always supported Zanu PF or has been voting for Zanu PF, but has nothing to show for it.

All problems of this country, from hunger, poor roads to rural underdevelopment — are prevalent in rural areas.

One hopes this time around, the party will prove us wrong.

For once we are confident they will kick-start the projects they have been promising us since 1980.

It could be cheap talk as always, but for now we are giving them the benefit of doubt.

Rural underdevelopment is a result of neglect by successive Zanu PF MPs, who only come back to the electorate when it is election time.

For Mberengwa, we are hoping that the tarred road linking Zvishavane and Mataga Growth Point will get some attention.

The road is now degraded to an unimaginable extent.

We also hope that some low lying areas like Vambare and Funye will also get network coverage.

The three mobile operators have been crowding the same areas around Mataga Growth Point and it seems it’s all because no one was advising them of areas that also need coverage.

We hope the incoming MPs will address these issues and foster development in this forgotten area.

Anybody who believes the promises of a desperate geriatric politician whose record is no better than ruining the country economically should work hard to know such politicians. Didn't the same old man spend a few hours apologizing for calling Lindiwe Zulu, a principled diplomat, an idiotic street woman, a prostitute?

Firifiti, you made me wet my fur with your belief in a party that will not, cannot and will never deliver, five more years of waiting for you, have fun.

Firifiti I feel sorry for you and thanks to the misguided voters in your area-for us all. We have old wine in new bottles for the cabinet, so you can be certain that this country will not be uplifted, while the old wine continues to amass wealth even as ordinary people like you and I suffer. This is what your votes brought us. Reap the bitter harvest of your misguided beliefs, my poor friend.
