PSL launch SMS platform

HARARE – The Castle Premier Soccer League has launched an innovative SMS campaign that gives fans an opportunity to win a number of prizes in upcoming competitions starting with the BancABC Sup8r Cup semi-finals.

The BancABC Sup8r Cup semi-finals will be played on August 31 and September 1 with Dynamos set to take on Shabanie Mine while FC Platinum square off with Monomotapa.

Through the short message services’ (SMS) base fans can predict the finalists, vote for the player of the tournament, predict the 2013 BancABC Sup8r champions, the man-of-the-match and the score line.

The SMS short code is 37771.

The platform is only currently available to Econet and NetOne subscribers but “efforts to engage other mobile network operators are currently underway,” the PSL said in a statement yesterday, adding:

“The PSL is proud to officially launch an initiative that is at the core of promoting the PSL brand for the benefit of its members and stakeholders through a participative SMS platform which is due to be rolled out starting with the BancABC Sup8r semi-finals.

A number of exciting competitions will be conducted with lucky fans standing a chance to win a number of prizes.”

The PSL SMS platform will consist of three main services.

It comprises of a general inquiries section where subscribers can inquire PSL live match updates, results, fixtures, the league table, team squads prior to a match, history of the PSL, PSL top goal scorers, PSL soccer stars over the years among other information regarding the football league.

The other service includes voting, competitions and predictions where subscribers have a chance to participate in the PSL competitions and voting polls that will be available on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.

“Voting polls such as the man of the match, player of the tournament or player of the season will be complemented by competitions such as predicting the top goal scorer of the season, the PSL champions or predicting the total number of points that the champions will accumulate,” added the press release.

Thirdly the PSL have also opened a news service where a subscriber can register for weekly PSL news.

From this service, subscribers will receive news bulletins around the PSL teams, match previews, injuries, match day squads, results among other news bulletins relating to the PSL.
