NRZ boss killed in road accident

HARARE - Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) General Manager, retired air commodore Mike Karakadzai, has died.

Karakadzai’s car hit a cow along the Harare-Bulawayo highway in Shangani as he was on his way to Bulawayo.

After hitting the cow, his car swerved and faced oncoming traffic resulting in him side-swiping an oncoming haulage truck.

He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo where he later died.

National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) board chairman Ambassador Kotsho Dube said the death of Karakadzai was a major loss to the business community and the country at large.

Ambassador Dube said the NRZ was deeply saddened by his untimely death, adding that they have lost a manager and strategist par excellence.

Karakadzai joined the NRZ in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia and five children.
