Tsvangirai election challenge dismissed

HARARE - The Constitutional Court on Tuesday afternoon dismissed with costs Morgan Tsvangirai's petition challenging President Robert Mugabe's re-election, even though he had withdrawn the challenge.

Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku ruled that Mugabe election for a seventh term of office was free, fair and credible.

At least we are getting somewhere, what is left is the FINAL court of appeal..that of public opinion... We also wait to hear its verdict.

gutter poet - 20 August 2013

We all expected this outcome. With Chidyausiku already in Mugabe's pocket as always, this was obvious. What a shame to a democracy. Cry my beloved country!

Changamire Dombo - 20 August 2013

Not really NEWS i'm afraid!

Semhalo - 20 August 2013

The Con Court has made its ruling and its final. I somehow sorry for have been advised by mercenary lawyers who led him to his political demise. Tsvangirai's lawyers deserve being arrested for misleading their less educated client and for wasted the court's time. In fact the dodgy lawyers should be charged for denigrading the court.

Rabison Nyundo (THE HAMMER) - 20 August 2013

we new there was something up their sleeve

bere - 20 August 2013

"Denigrading what Court " - do you mean the un-Constitutional Court, the one that allowed Mugabe to self proclaim the illegal Election. Or do you mean the one that still won't order the ZEC to forfeit the electronic (Nikuv) Voter Roll that was legally supposed to be issued "before" the illegal Election. Help me please, help me understand how a citizen wastes a Court's time? I always thought the Court's were there to 'protect and assist citizens', but aah! I forgot, the MDC's and their followers aren't citizens, are they? Oops! Sorry I tripped up, ZPF!

Chivula Mapoti - 20 August 2013

THIS DOES NOT COME AS A SURPRISE AT ALL. THE JUDGEMENT, JUST LIKE THE ELECTIONS, WAS RIGGED.

THOMPSON ZUVA - 20 August 2013

What do you expect from a Nukived court?

Mike Hove - 20 August 2013

what's next

mboko - 20 August 2013

We knew that MDC T would be met by a great, great big brick wall, and written on this brick wall are these words," ZIMBABWE COURTS,"and Chidyausiku stood in front of this great big brick wall, with his great big black gowns and his great big wig and said, "MDC T , talk to this brick wall, it will answer all your questions ! ! !

Madhodha Bhini - 20 August 2013

This ruling was obvious anywhere,ZANU rigged the courts before elections were held by appointing their puppet judges to the bench without consent from GNU partners,Even when MDC asked for an order for the release of elections evidence to use in their case the very court denied them access ,so in other way this tell us as citizens that if you are not a ZANU supporter there is no justice for you,ZANU can go on RIG ELECTIONS,RIG THE COURTS,RIG THEIR SUPPORTERS ,but when it comes to the ECONOMY IT IS UNRIGGABLE ,poverty is a reality that is there and it doesn't chose wheather you are ZANU or MDC ,those election promises will not be archived.

Freedom - 20 August 2013

All your comments are trying to rig an election that was fairly, freely contested by all the parties. I am not sure how a voter's roll can produce votes. It wasn't MDC-T party alone which contested the election, there were other parties as well involved. So the idea of trying to hide behind the voter's roll is very stupid. You lost the election and that is it. You don't get votes from the courts, media, or voter's roll. You get them from your supporters who should be registered voters. Convince them to vote for you, period. The problem you have MDC people is that you are always thinking of rigging instead of thinking of what you are not doing right to win elections. If you know that there is something called election rigging, why don't you master the art and do the same. I was involved in these elections and I was really surprise by the electoral knowledge that your candidates had. I am therefore surprised that you claim you were rigged when none of your agents and/or polling officers are complaining about the same. What a pity. Accept reality, you are not good at convincing people to vote for you period. Just look at your supporters, all young and innocent. They are not even registered voters, all they want from you is beer, period. God bless you.

Me - 21 August 2013

Paradzai you are dead right. Gutter Poet, yours is surely gutter politics. What public opinion do you expect when the most credible and final public opinion are is the elections. People spoke emphatically but some people are jumping like headless chickens to try and fight against the peoples verdict. Just follow the whole protest process, it's rotten, full of confusion, purposeless and utter stupid. A sheer waste of money, the opportunity cost of which is unfathomable. A wise leader would employ such resources to restructure and mobilise for the next round 2018. Now, gullible lawyers will never tell you that you are a moron. In typical style they conjure some vague arguments to justify creaming you off your $s. Whilst you sink, like what's definitely happening to Morgan, they, they consolidate financially and tell everyone else that the guy is clueless. I say it again, the people are an iron wall against which all enemies, internal and external, will crash. We would never vote for our own enslavement and that's final. Tiri Madzimbahwe as the wise Mahoso would say, we have a legacy, values, resources and hunhu hwedu to protect and we can.t do that as a colony!

Between now and 2018 Tsvangson should go back to school and get some education. It is his lack of education that is causing him so many problems. Its so stressful dealing with the learned when you are a dofo as he is.

Paradzai, pretty let me first get it from you why is Zec refusing with the electronic voters roll? do yu know its cheaper producing and distributing millions of volumes at the click of a button than to send the paper volumes that are difficult to analyse? so znpf stole this election if you cant see it then pamha--ta penyu garai makadaro asi God is on Team Morgan's side
