ZPC Kariba wary of Starbill

HARARE – Northern Region Division One Soccer League leaders ZPC Kariba coach Jostein Mathuthu is wary of the threat posed by relegation- threatened Starbill when the two sides clash at Gwanzura Stadium on Saturday.

ZPC top the log with 35 points, same points with Flame Lilly, but the Kariba side boost of superior goal different.

Starbill are fourth from the bottom of the log table with 18 points from 18 games played.

“Starbill is collecting points against big teams, but we are not putting pressure on our players just because we are playing relegation-threatened Starbill. Infact, we are trying to take it like any other normal game,” Mathuthu told the Daily News.

“Teams like Starbill want to spoil the party, but the players are motivated and I don’t see them losing points just like that. The morale is high among the players and the team spirit should carry the day for us. The good part is we are not under pressure going into this match and we will just go and play our game.”

The former Lengthens coach said the competition for promotion ticket is going to be very stiff.

“I wish the same competition could be experience in the Premier League. Division One players are so good and it’s unbelievable.”

Meanwhile, third-placed Twalumba will take on DStv Rangers and a win will see them increasing pressure on leaders ZPC.
