Imbiber stabbed, disembowelled

BULAWAYO - Two men from Nyamandlovu who almost killed a drinking mate after they allegedly stabbed and disembowelled him have appeared in court.

Panawa Ndebele, 29, and Oscar Nkomo, 20, from Dlula Village 2  this week appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Abednico Ndebele  facing attempted murder charges.

The accused persons and the complainant are neighbours.

The two were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody to August 29.

The matter was referred to Nyamandlovu circuit court for the continuation of trial and the accused persons were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

According to the charge sheet, on August 11 at around 4pm, the complainant proceeded to Mahova Bottle Store at Dlula Business Centre for a beer drink.

Upon arrival he found Ndebele and Nkomo in the bottle store having their beer together with other local patrons.

At around 10 pm, the court heard that the complainant left the bottle store alone while in a drunken stupor heading home. On his way it is alleged that he met the two accused persons who then quizzed him where he was going at that time of the night.

The complainant did not respond, the court was told. This did not go down well with the two which resulted in Ndebele slapping him once on the left cheek.

Soon after that his colleague Nkomo allegedly withdrew a press button knife from his pocket which he used to stab the complainant three times on the left side of the stomach.

As a result the complainant’s intestines were exposed before he fell down bleeding profusely.

However, it was the loud scream for help by the complainant that attracted the attention of nearby villagers who quickly rushed to the scene and rescued him.

A police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused.
