Black Boots, Rovers in mouth-watering tie

BULAWAYO – The Southern Region Division One league enters Week 20 this weekend with the clash between second-placed Black Boots and fourth-placed Bantu Rovers at Fair Bridge the pick of the crop from the weekend matches.

Police outfit Black Boots trail pacesetters Bulawayo Chiefs by five points and will be out to collect maximum points and stay within striking distance of the log leaders.

This will be no easy task as former premiership campaigners Bantu Rovers have put their campaign back on track since the arrival of former Quelaton and Bulawayo Chiefs coach Thulani Sibanda.

Rovers are back in contention for the sole promotion ticket into the top-flight after a good run under Thulani Sibanda and are now perched in fourth position on the log with 32 points to their credit.

Six points separate the two sides as Gondo Harishayi are on 38. Sibanda’s Tshintsha Guluva brought in a number of reinforcements during the transfer window with seasoned campaigners Chipo Tsodzo, Makhosi and Fortune Ncube being signed alongside unheralded striker Ashton Mhlanga.

Black Boots will be banking on regular scorer Tashinga Mungadze, Tinashe Dube and Leeroy Ndlovu.

Leaders Chiefs will play host to lowly Ntabazinduna in Plumtree and will be out to maintain their lead over the chasing pack.

The Amakhosi are on 43 points and will have no room for complacency after they were held to a goalless stalemate by the prison services outfit in the reverse fixture.
