Tehn Diamond to grace BBA

HARARE - Hip hop new kid on the block, Tehn Diamond will this week perform at the Big Brother Africa eviction show alongside fellow artistes Junior Brown and Take 5.

The award-winning young musician will grace the BBA platform for the first time.

Tehn Diamond and Junior Brown’s manager Tsungi Zvobgo was excited about the gig, hinting that it was a start of greater things.

“I am excited about this performance. It’s a short one — only two songs but the opportunity for them to be seen and heard live across over 40 African countries and over 2,5 million people is invaluable.

“The boys have worked incredibly hard to bring Zimbabwean hip-hop to international attention and our culture to the fore. They deserve this and I’m very proud of them.”

Both Tehn Diamond and Jnr Brown are currently on their first UK tour where they performed at Summerjam and Rollers in London.

They are expected back home today. They are both in the throes of completing their individual debut albums and the work they do together with Take 5 — a trio known as Few Kings.

“The concentration is on the creation and evolution if their music, their presence and visibility both locally and internationally. They continue to hone their skills, grow and navigate this difficult industry,” she said.

Tehn Diamond was ecstatic at the opportunity. The Happy singer said he hopes to show the world what Zimbabwean artistes are capable of.

“It’s a great honour and more than anything it means that the continent is eager to know what Zimbabwean talent is up to. We’re a passionate youth with a wealth of world quality potential, all I hope to achieve with my performance there, is to showcase just a tiny glimpse of that potential.”

Asked how he plans to utilise this opportunity, Tehn Diamond said he wants to keep on doing what he knows best, that is making music.

“My plan never changes. Create music of world class quality, with nothing but my own truth and deliver as far and wide as possible via unforgettable experiences. So more music and more shows. I’ll be releasing my debut solo album The Perfect TehN, early 2014 to that end,” he said.

Other Zimbawean artistes who have performed at Big Brother are DJ Daves Mugadza, Stunner and Winky Dee.
Zimbabwe was being represented by two housemates Pokello Nare and Munyaradzi ‘Hakeem’ Mandaza but both are now out of the house.
