NRZ to suspend local coaches for holidays

HARARE - National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) says it will suspend local commuter train services in Bulawayo and Harare during the coming Heroes and Defence Forces holidays.

Fanuel Masikati, the NRZ head of public relations, said the state-owned rail firm will however, retain its city-to-city coaches for travellers intending to travel outside the two major towns.

“The NRZ is geared to ferry travellers during the Heroes and Defence Forces holiday and has added additional coaches to meet the increased demand during the holiday,” Masikati said.

“We therefore urge travellers to book and buy their tickets early on the day of travel,” he said.

“Travellers may wish to know that there is a daily passenger train service from Bulawayo to Victoria Falls and Victoria Falls to Bulawayo.

“This service is very popular with tourist travellers and other people who intend to visit the holiday resort, which is well-known for its amazing and magnificent tourist attractions.”
