'Zanu PF rigged'

HARARE - In the aftermath of one of the most closely monitored elections in southern Africa’s recent history,  there have been divergent reports on the outcome by observer missions, different views from contesting parties.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC described the election as a “huge farce” while his secretary-general Tendai Biti said Zimbabwe was entering “a political crisis”.

Zanu PF said they had garnered a landslide victory reminiscent of the 1980 vote.

Millions of Zimbabweans had hoped the poll would strengthen relative democratic gains over the past five years of a fractious coalition dogged by policy discord and bitter infighting.

Amid the dejection, the crush and the excitement, the Daily News’ Wendy Muperi took to Harare’s streets to glean views from ordinary Zimbabweans.

Paul Magarira, Mbare I am not satisfied with the results. Zanu PF did all kinds of rigging amongst them intimidation, voter assistance, fake slips and all. But in Mbare the main tool was intimidation and harassment.

Chenai Tiyazimbwa, Budiriro

Where I voted it was ok. I, however, am also concerned about what I am hearing from my relatives and friends.

The issue of assisted voters is coming up so often and if it really happened, then it is bad and painful.

Kudakwashe Mupedzanhamo, Mbare

There is so much that need to be explained, interrogated about this election. Many people with tables (market stalls) here were ordered to register in this constituency despite the fact that many of them do not stay here.

After registering, they had to book their slip numbers with Zanu PF community leaders and where told those numbers will be recorded in the booth and any other result would cost them their tables. We were told our houses will be destroyed if we vote for Eric Knight.

Our life as youths are now gloomy because already the empowerment has not reached neither me nor my relatives have ever benefited from these programmes.

I am a vendor and what I can expect now is more poverty and more diseases.

Shadrech Rego, Marondera

The election was rigged 100 percent. I was an agent and we had a case at Dombotombo where we could not verify an envelope with 368 votes because the corresponding voters’ roll disappeared.

The presiding officer brought a memo from “vakuru” which said they had to be included in the counting. Some candidates were disadvantaged in that process.

Shandudzo Pedzisai, Mbare

We made several reports of intimidation and harassment, which was rife here, to police but nothing was ever done to stop it.

I do not feel the elections were free and fair. I also do not personally want another election because Robert Mugabe is long defeated and should go.

Mischeck Tunami, Highfield West

I was beaten last week for wearing an MDC T-shirt.  After trying to intimidate us, then they go on to rig the election. We are actually expecting our leader Morgan Tsvangirai to address us, sit down with him and map the way forward.

Olisen Moyo, Sunningdale

I was an agent, the results are unrealistic and it is clear that there is something behind this outcome.  It is not coming out properly.

I witnessed a lot of our first time voters being told to go to Mhondoro or Goromonzi when they were in fact registered here. How is that possible?

We should not have gone ahead with an election with such a voters’ roll.

Zimbabweans are well educated but honestly the number of assisted voters was too much. this clearly shows that ZANU used all sorts of tricks to rig. the election is really a great farce.

This vote was obviously rigged but Mr Tsvangirai and his party members must have seen this coming and worked hard to prevent it. How can a party be cheated by another so many times and every time blames the party that is cheating them instead of trying to take precautionary measures before the election? The MDC must have thought hard about which loopholes Bob was going to exploit to rig the vote, instead the they became complacent and Tsvangirai himself was singing more praises towards Mugabe than criticising him during entire tenure as PM.

my dear Zimbabweans. it is important that we all agree that numbers do not cheat when it comes to election results. it is true that MDC-T lost according to the counted numbers of Xs. however, we shoukd also in the same vein agree that the process in the runup period to elections was not democratic, neither free nor fair was it. Zimbabwe must know that if a prostitute sleeps with a man, she can bear a child. the child is just a normal human being, so are the election results. however, mwana wehure anenhamo weduwe.

ZIMBABWE ELECTORAL FRAUD UNEARTHED A private South African based intelligence organisation Nasini Projects has allegedly unearthed a deadly electoral fraud in the just ended harmonized elections in Zimbabwe to end an unease coalition between strongman Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change. Speaking to NP News Saturday the chief executive officer of the Think tank Ms Lucia Mordi said a delicate ballot paper was used to rig the election. "From our findings so far we are 99.9% convinced that the election was rigged via a ballot paper.A special watermarked ballot was used to give president Mugabe a resounding victory. The ballot had a water X against President Mugabe's name such that if any ink is placed on the paper the substance on the paper will react and remove the ink and activate the watermarked X into print. If you look at some ballots you would see that Xs are very straight and Identical. These were mixed with ordinary ballot papers in a proportion that would favour Zanu PF.Therefore I call for the opposition parties and the international community to stage an urgent probe into this scam " When asked why she carried out the investigations Ms Mordi said her organisation was established to deal with issues related to serious fraud across the world. "Our organisation was established to reduce serious fraud across the world. After a tip from our China Branch we moved in to evaluate the situation"She said If Nasini Projects happen to be correct this could be the world's fraudulant experience since the world was formed NP News

the result that the entire Matabeleland voted Zanu PF into power is just so incredible. No-one believes it.

U say a million voters were turned away, even if all those who were turned away were given to Morgan he was not winning coz the diff btwn his votes and those of Bob is one mil. out of those turned away there were some Zanu pf supporters as well unless u are saying there asked the party there were going to vote for. No one is coming up with evidence except speculation. From the 1mil Mdc claims were turned away if say 70% were MDC still BOB was going to win by 53%. Independent papers u failed MDC coz u were writing stories tp pliz MDC instead of telling things on the ground.
