Daily News nominated for Superbrand research

HARARE - Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (Maz) has unveiled top 200 Superbrands that have qualified for the 2013 national research, and include leading daily newspaper, Daily News.

Tov Manene, Maz general manager for select research yesterday told a news conference: “The consumer research team will be ranking and rating brands premised on market dominance, longevity, goodwill, customer loyalty and overall market acceptance.”

Amongst the 200 national brands to be researched is the Daily News.

Manene said the Superbrand concept is meant to promote the discipline of branding in the country, as selected by consumers and industry experts and was aimed at identifying those brands that were performing above and beyond others within the market.

A team of 22 adjudicators made up of industry, marketing and branding experts came up with the list of the top 200 brands registered in the Zimbabwean market space.

Lewis Hussein, partner with PKF Charted Accountants, said the top 200 brands selection was fair.

Ruth Ncube, Maz president said a team of adjudicators will receive results from the national research for final adoption.

“Our coming in has affected respective companies in producing quality products as we serve as a guide to how consumers like your products,” Ncube said.

Ncube said the Superbrand awards ceremony will be held on December 6 where only the top 20 brands will carry the status of Superbrand.

“On the ceremony, only 100 top brands will be announced and the use of the Superbrand status will be used by top 20 brands,” said Ncube.
