Bosso's man of the moment

BULAWAYO – Milton Ncube was the darling of Highlanders fans after scoring the equaliser that earned his team a share of the spoils against Chicken Inn in an entertaining Castle Premiership match at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Ncube cemented his position as one of the key players for Bosso with a well taken goal on 24 minutes to level matters after Chicken Inn had taken the lead after six minutes through the enterprising Kuda Mahachi.

The former Shooting Stars and Motor Action man is the only Highlanders player to have found the target in their last six games after scoring against Hwange, CAPS United and in Sunday’s encounter that ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu described Ncube as a vital cog in the Bosso machine.

“Milton has been very instrumental for us and has scored some very vital goals this season,” Kaindu said.

“He has a very high work rate and is a complete player because not only is he an effective attacker but he also tracks back and assists the defence.”

And the way Ncube scored his goal against Chicken Inn portrayed a player who is very high on confidence.

The versatile linkman confidently took on two opposition defenders and left them for dead before slotting the ball past Chicken Inn keeper Njabulo Nyoni.

That goal brought to an end a barren spell that had seen Bosso go for a number of games without hitting the target at Barbourfields.

Ncube was one of the few Highlanders players who were not afraid to take the Chicken Inn defence head on and this approach earned his team a number of fouls in a pulsating first half.

And one free kick that Ncube won after just three minutes of action saw the much improved Simon Munawa stinging Gamecocks keeper Nyoni with a ferocious shot that the keeper did well to punch away.

After the match the nimble footed midfielder was given cash by Bosso fans in appreciation of his impressive strike that salvaged a point for his team and saved them the embarrassment of losing to their city rivals for the second time this season.

Ncube is now being referred to as ‘Highlanders’ man of the moment’ by Bosso fans on social networking sites dedicated to the Bulawayo giants.

His coach, Kaindu expressed confidence that the player would keep a level head in the face of adulation that saw him being mobbed by Highlanders fans after the final whistle at Barbourfields.
