10-man CAPS hold Bosso

BULAWAYO – Ten-man CAPS United held Highlanders to a goalless draw in an incident-filled Castle Premiership match at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

There was drama in the 21st minute when referee Philani Ncube awarded CAPS a penalty after Bosso’s Simon Munawa had brought down Rahman Kutsanzira inside the box.

Before United could take the spot kick, fourth official Bekezela Makeka alerted the referee that his second assistant Brighton Nyika had raised his flag for offiside when Kutsanzira received the ball.

Ncube ended up reversing his decision to award Makepekepe the penalty. There was a four-minute stoppage as CAPS players protested against the decision.

After play resumed, Makepekepe defender Arnold Chivheya was sent off after receiving his second caution of the match on 36 minutes.

In the end, Highlanders failed to break down the resolute United defence despite playing with a man short.

At Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma, army side Black Rhinos beat FC Platinum 2-0 while Monomotapa defeated Motor Action at Motor Action Sports Club with a similar score line.

Army side Buffaloes were the biggest winners of the weekend when they thumped Tripple B 5-1 at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.

After the weekends result, Harare City remain in pole position of the Premiership log with 31 points from 16 games.

Weekend results: Chicken Inn 1-1 Shabanie Mine, How Mine1-0 Dynamos, Black Mambas 0-1 Triangle, Harare City 2-1 Hwange, Black Rhinos 2-0 FC Platinum, Highlanders 0-0 CAPS United, Motor Action 0-2 Monomotapa, Buffaloes 5-1 Tripple B
