Zimbabwe Cricket to choose new patron?

HARARE – Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) will hold its AGM Friday afternoon at Harare Sports Club where they are likely to appoint a new patron bringing to an end President Robert Mugabe’s tenure.

The AGM that was scheduled to be held on June 21 was shelved to today at the chairman’s enclosure at the ceremonial home of cricket.

According to the agenda in a possession of the Daily News, the issue of appointing a patron is on item nine.

“To appoint a Patron and Honorary life members,” reads the agenda.

ZC managing director Wilfred Mukondiwa in his notice of the AGM wrote:

“Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of Zimbabwe Cricket which was previously scheduled for Friday 21 June 2013, will now be held in the chairman’s enclosure, Harare Sports Club, Harare on Friday, 5 July 2013 at 1400hours.”

Mukondiwa dismissed the issue that his association was partying ways with Mugabe.

“That’s a standing issue, it has always been on the agenda it’s just like minutes of the previous meeting,” Mukondiwa told the Daily News yesterday.

“The president still is and remains our Patron until a decision is made otherwise.”
