Quelaton clash with Chiefs

BULAWAYO – Former Premiership outfit Quelaton has an opportunity to cut pacesetters Bulawayo Chiefs’ lead at the summit of the Southern Region Division One log standings when the two sides clash in the first of back-to-back clashes Saturday at Fairbridge.

Third-placed Quelaton trail Chiefs by nine points and can reduce this deficit to just three points if they can beat Rahman Gumbo’s charges both at the weekend and in the reverse fixture.

Chiefs are on 34 points while “Kwela Kwela” is on 25 after 14 matches.

Quelaton will pin their hopes on their young strikers Toto Banda and Moodley Njeleza while the visitors have experienced campaigners Tedius Mugumanya and speed merchant Kundishora Chakanyuka to guide their array of upcoming stars.

The match kicks off at midday.

Second-placed Black Boots will visit fellow uniformed forces outfit Bulawayo Jumbos at Brad Barracks in a game that is likely to be characterised by a lot of power play.

Black Boots trail Chiefs by seven points and will be out to harvest points from lowly Jumbos and hope the log leaders falter against Quelaton.

Jumbos are third from bottom and have managed a paltry 11 points so far this campaign.

Struggling ZPC Hwange will be hoping for a change of fortune when they host in-form Tsholotsho in Hwange on Saturday.

ZPC were touted as one of the pre-season favourites but a poor run of form has seen them slip down the ladder and they are now placed in seventh position.

On Sunday, there is a potential thriller at Luveve Stadium when former top flight sides Bantu Rovers and Zimbabwe Saints clash in a midday encounter.

Both teams will be out to improve their standing on the log as they are both languishing in mid table.
