Gate back at Shabanie

ZVISHAVANE – Former Masvingo United striker Simbarashe Gate is training with Shabanie Mine with the hope of signing with the Chinda Boys during the mid-season transfer window which opened on Monday.

Gate, who is reportedly to have been based in India before his decision to come back home, is hoping to take advantage of the cordial relations with Shabanie Mine coach Luke Masomere to help him earn a contract with the Zvishavane side.

The striker played under Masomere during his days at Mwana Africa before following him to Masvingo United.

Gate claims to have been on the books of Indian club Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Masomere confirmed that Gate was training with the asbestos miners but was not at liberty to reveal whether they are going to sign him or not.

“We are short of strikers and we are assessing a number of players whom I can’t reveal at the moment,” Masomere told the Daily News.

“Gate is training with us but there is nothing I can talk about at the moment.”

Gate recently made headlines after he was assaulted by Highlanders marshals at the Bulawayo giants’ clubhouse.

The striker had gone to the Bosso base to enquire about an outstanding payment the club owes him.
