Gamecocks bank on home advantage

BULAWAYO – Chicken Inn Inn will be banking on home advantage when they take on Shabanie Mine in a mouth watering Castle Premiership ?encounter at Luveve Stadium on Friday.

The Gamecocks assistant coach Mkhuphali Masuku admitted to the Daily News the match is not an easy one for both teams since they will be meeting for the third time within a short period.

“It is going to be a very tough game because it’s not easy to play against the same team on three consecutive occasions but we will try and capitalise on home advantage,” Masuku said.

“We have some players who will be missing through suspension but we do not view this as a setback but rather as a chance to afford other players an opportunity to play and we are confident that they will be up to the task at hand.”

Chicken Inn will be without the services of anchorman Brian Juru who is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards but Masuku reckons they have enough depth within their ranks to fill his gap.

Danny Phiri may be given the holding role with either Cabby Kamhapa or Makhosi Ncube playing in front of him.

The Chicken Inn coaches have another option in former Bantu Rovers linkman Dion Homela who can come in as a direct replacement for Juru.

The Gamecocks go into today’s encounter tied on 29 points with log leaders Highlanders and stand a chance to assume pole position if they collect maximum points against the Chinda Boys.

Chicken Inn will be banking on the country’s leading goal scorer Tendai Ndoro to bang in the goals that will secure them the much desired maximum points.

Ndoro is currently on 10 goals and will be out to add to his tally and boost his chances of lifting the golden boot at the end of the season.
