Dancehall acts to rock Harare

HARARE -  Dancehall lovers in Harare are in for a treat this Saturday as a star-studded cast of youthful dancehall musicians clash in a free-for-all night.

The cast which includes Sniper Storm, Freeman, Ricky Fire, Shinsoman, Mo Stuff, Lia and Guspy Warriors are all set to share stage at Super Label Nite Club. They are promising fireworks at the all-night event.

Sniper Storm real name Donald Chirisa but popularly known as ‘‘Musoja’’ or ‘‘The General’’ said he is going to sing till he runs out of his voice.

“This showcase is not one to miss because I promise to deliver a world class performance. Music is my job so I am going to sing kusvikira izwi rashoshoma (till I run out of my voice),” said the Love Yemusoja hit-maker.

Chitungwiza-based self confessed Fire King — Ricky Fire promised nothing but ‘‘fire’’.

“Me as fireman I just want to say to my fans please come in numbers because there is a surprise fire, surprise performance, new tunes.

“Jah will guide us to fulfil this plan of delivering a superb act on Saturday,” said Ricky Fire adding his sidekick Angel P is set to belt out her day-old debut 10-track album to be released today.

“The album is entitled The Queen of Fire Taking Over will be sampled out on Saturday (tomorrow) so it will be a night of fireworks,” said the Chitungwiza-based artiste.

Rising dancehall artiste Shinsoman is equally ecstatic about the event.

“My fans should expect a surprise from me on Saturday (tomorrow), kunenge kwakatoipa manje. All I can say is that fans should come and see for themselves,” he said.

Sniper is known for songs such as Hapana Hapana, Mwari Ndibatsirei, Mob Psychology, Love yeMusoja, Porongi and Musikana Haarohwi among others.

In most of his songs, Sniper campaigns against sexual and physical violence against women and children.

On the other hand, Freeman aka Dancehall Doctor whose real name is Emegy Chizanga is not new to clashes of this nature.

The Joina City hit-maker has shared stage with both local and international artistes before and he is indeed a force to reckon with in the dancehall circles.

He has performed alongside seasoned international artistes such as Jamaican artiste Capleton aka King Shango — real name is Clifton George Bailey III, Agent Sasco and Mavado.

He once participated in the leading South African event — Cape Town International Reggae Fest in December last year where he shared stage with a number of dancehall artistes from different countries in Africa.

The 25-year-old ‘‘doctor’’ became a household name after the release of chart topping song Joina City which he featured Cally C a couple of years ago while last year he launched Last Man Standing, an album comprising songs such as Kuramba Ndaramba, Pressure — a track which he also featured Cally C, The Last Man Standing also features Princo Spice.

Handikundike, Kakandinyangira, Kuzvitutumadza, Structure, Risk Murudo, MaInformer, Takava Leader, Love of My Life, Vanondigaira, Blessings and a bonus track Ndomira Semukono which he features Shinsoman are some of the tracks on the album.
