ZPC title hopes dented

HARARE - ZPC Kariba’s title aspirations received a knock following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of seasoned campaigners DStv Rangers at Old Hararians on Saturday.

The win came as a huge relief for Shane Nemasango and his men who had gone for two matches without a win. But for the Kariba-based side they remain unchanged at the top of the log with 29 points from 15 matches.

Police outfit Flame Lily, who recently received a cash boost from BancABC, failed to capitalise on ZPC’s slip-up as they were held to a one-all draw by army side Commando Bullets.

The draw means Flame Lily is now tied on 29 points with log leaders ZPC Kariba but they have an inferior goal difference.

Following their win over ZPC, Rangers moved to 25 points closing the gap on the log leaders to four points.

Newly promoted Mushowani Stars maintained their good form dismissing Banket 2-1 to move to 28 points. They now trail ZPC by just a point.

New boys Forrester poured more misery to struggling former premiership side Gunners after beating them 3-1.

Gunners, who were tipped for a quick return to the premiership at the start of the season, have managed to win five, draw four and lose five of their matches thus far.

Results: JMC 0 Blue Rangers 2, Forrester 3 Gunners 1, Lake Harvest 0 Power Master 1, Commando 1 Flame Lilly 1, Dstv Rangers 1 ZPC Kariba 0, Starbill 0 Chegutu 2, Mushowani 2 Banket 1
