HSC demolishes Western Panthers

HARARE - Harare Sports Club put up a sterling performance at home to dismantle Western Panthers 89-7 in a one-sided National Rugby League match on Saturday.

Sports Club utility back Teddy Hwata was the toast of the day as he converted 12 of the 13 tries scored by the home side yesterday.

To cap off a fine afternoon, Hwata also run in three tries notching 39 points in total.

The Panthers had held their own in the first quarter of the match as their text book tackling kept them in the match.

On offense they seemed to run out of ideas and kept on kicking position away which resulted in four counter attack tries by HSC.

Top try scorer, Stephen Hunduza ran in three tries as he brought up his tally for the season to 12.

Josh Mutasa, Shayne Makumbe, Sean Chigumbura and Sharks Academy centre Kudzia Mashawi all crossed the whitewash in the first half to give their side a healthy lead.

The hosts upped their game in the second half as they kept the Panthers on the back foot as they literally run circles around the Bulawayo team.

Hooker Jubilee Banwha, Philimon Machisa and towering lock Ashely Mabhena all weighted in a try a piece in the second half.

The Bulawayo side was able to grab a late consolation try right at the death through Terrence Ncube which was converted by George Hwatshwayo.
