ZPC Kariba firm in Northern Region

HARARE - ZPC Kariba stayed atop the Zifa Northern Region division one after beating ZRP Morris at Chaminuka Stadium on Wednesday.

The win saw the Kariba-based side maintain a one-point lead ahead of Flame Lilly, who are in second place with 28 points.

Jostein Mathuthu’s charges played 14 games and managed to win eight, draw six and lose one.

Flame Lilly, who got a $60 000 sponsorship package from ABC Easy Loans on Wednesday, beat Lake Harvest 2-0 to maintain pressure on the log leaders.

Former log leaders DStv Rangers suffered their second loss of the season after going down 2-1 to Chegutu Pirates.

DStv, seen as championship contenders at the start of the campaign after managing four wins in their opening four matches, have lost ground in the title race in recent weeks.

In their previous three matches, the Harare side lost two matches against Starbill and returnees Chegutu Pirates. Shame Nemasango’s man had also drawn with new boys Mushowani Stars.

DStv have a tricky tie at the weekend when they host leaders ZPC Kariba.
