Daily News scribe detained

HARARE - Daily News' reporter Wendy Muperi has been detained by Zanu PF activists at the party’s headquarters in Harare.

Muperi and Wonai Masvingise, a News Day staffer, were detained early morning today, as they covered a demonstration by disgruntled Zanu PF supporters are up in arms against the imposition of candidates ahead of the party’s primary elections due on June 24.

Efforts to speak to Zanu PF’s spokesperson Rugare Gumbo were fruitless as his mobile was unanswered, while party chairman Simon Khaya Moyo said he was faraway and not aware of the scribes’ detention. - Staff Writer
