Ndoro in Warriors' Cosafa squad

HARARE - Castle Premiership leading scorer Tendai Ndoro has been reward with a call-up to the Warriors for next month’s Cosafa Cup in Zambia.

The Chicken Inn winger-cum-forward has fired nine goals thus far this season and these goals have now earned him a place in the squad for the return of the regional championship, which is making a comeback after three years.

Warriors manager Shariff Mussa on Thursday announced the 20-man squad, entirely made up of local based players.

The team will start camp on July 9 before traveling to Zambia two days later.

The Warriors will begin their quest on July 13 at the quarterfinal stage against Malawi.

The surprise omission from the squad was Dynamos defender Partson Jaure, one of coach Klaus-Dieter Pagels’ favourites in the German’s rebuilding exercise.

Also making a comeback to the team is goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube, who is enjoying a new lease of life after joining CAPS United from FC Platinum this season.

Black Rhinos forward Lot Chiunga and How Mine striker Simba Sithole are the only uncapped players in the squad.

Zimbabwe won the last Cosafa tournament on home soil after beating Zambia 3-1 at Rufaro Stadium in 2009.

Squad: Maxwell Nyamupanedengu, Munyaradzi Diya, Tafadzwa Dube, Felix Chindungwe, Hardlife Zvirekwi, Ocean Mushure, Eric Chipeta, Nicolas Guyo, Prosper Matizanadzo, Ali Sadiki, Masimba Mambare, Devon Chafa, Charles Sibanda, Silas Songani, Ronald Chitiyo, Nicholas Alifandika, Simba Sithole, Tendai Ndoro, Lot Chiunga, Last Chibwiro. - Godknows Matarutse
