Matabeleland Warriors in accident

HARARE - Bulawayo rugby outfit Matabeleland Warriors were involved in a road accident that left two of their technical staff injured Saturday morning.

The Warriors’ team bus veered off the road in the wee hours of Saturday morning just after Munyati River leaving coach Ruben Kumpasa and his assistant Vusa Ndebele injured.

Kumpasa suffered a broken ankle while Ndebele was left with a few bruises.

Although there was no official comment from the police, the Daily News on Sunday understands that human error was the cause of the accident.

The bus driver is believed to have fallen asleep on the steering wheel leading o the crash.

The Warriors were enroute to the capital where they were scheduled to meet Harare Sports Club in the Lion Lager National Rugby League Saturday afternoon.

Yesterday’s accident comes barely two months after tragedy struck the local rugby community when Zvishavane Bulls flyhalf, Slimfield Moyo died in road accident on his way to a match. - Brian Matamba
