Egypt arrive for Warriors tie

HARARE - Egypt jetted into the country mid-morning yesterday ahead of their World Cup qualifier with the Warriors on Sunday.

Led by American coach Bob Bradley and his assistance of Diaa El-Sayed and Zaki Abdel-Fattah, the Egyptians are bidding for their first ticket to the prestigious tournament since 1990.

The Pharaohs are firm favourites to win the group and progress to the next round of the qualifiers.

The North Africans are in control of Group G with nine points, five ahead of second-placed Guinea.

The seven-time African champions could secure their passage to the final round of the qualifiers with two matches to spare if they beat Zimbabwe on Sunday and Guinea fail to overcome Mozambique.

The Pharaohs will have two training sessions a day until the match day. They will stay on in Harare for two days after the match before heading to Maputo to meet Mozambique in a fortnight.

Midfielder Tareq Hamed, defenders Hazem Emam, Walid Soliman, Ayman Hefny and Ali Ghazal were some of the players who were excluded from the touring party.
