DStv Rangers in pole position

HARARE - DSTV Rangers moved to the top of Northern Region Division One Soccer League standings after beating JMC academy 2-0 at Old Hararians on Wednesday.

Stephane Miranzi and Joseph Nyahvudzi were on target for Rangers as the Harare side assumed pole position with 12 points, just one ahead of ZPC Kariba, Mushowani Stars and Commando Bullets.

DStv Rangers started their campaign on a bright note, with three wins and three draws from six matches.

Early pacesetters Mushowani could forever live to rue the costly defeat to mid-table Jumbo Giants that saw them slip to fourth position.

DStv coach Shame Nemasango showered his players with praise.

“We have started well and I have been telling my boys that we need maximum concentration from the first game up to the last match of the season,” Nemasango told the Daily News yesterday.

Despite the setback of losing some of their key players from last season, Nemasango believes their new recruitments will steer them into the Premiership next season.

“We are happy with our progress and we want to maintain that winning mentality and avoid complacency. The real battles will come.”
