Harare City jump to 4th place

HARARE - Harare City jumped to fourth place on the Castle Premiership log standing after defeating spirited Chicken Inn here yesterday.

Crispen Dickson and Osborn Mukuradare scored for the Sunshine Boys while the Gamecocks found their only goal through Tonisani Sibelo.

City now have 14 points from eight matches while the Gamecocks remain in seventh place with 10 points from the same number of matches.

The Sunshine Boys raced into an early lead just two minutes into the game, referee Brighton Wagoneka awarded the home side a free kick outside the box after a foul on Phenias Bamusi.

Dickson powered his grounded effort past a poorly organised Chicken Inn wall.

The Bulawayo side found the equaliser in the 26th minute when Tendai Ndoro won possession near the centre circle before leading a break on the right.

Ndoro squared the ball the ball for Sibelo to tap home from close range.

However, the hosts did not release their foot off the pedal and four minutes later they were in front again.

Silas Songani sent in a pin point cross which found an unmarked Mukuradare inside the box to tape home past goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni.

After the game Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi said: “The boys played very well and I’m happy to collect maximum points. We need to continue with this performance.”
