Bulawayo Chiefs march on

BULWAYO - Southern Region Division One log leaders Bulawayo Chiefs maintained their perfect start to the 2013 season with a 2-1 victory over former premiership side Zimbabwe Saints at Luveve Stadium last Saturday.

This was Chiefs’ fifth straight victory since the start of the current campaign, and the Thulani Sibanda-led side now enjoys a five point lead at the summit of the log, after second placed ZPC Hwange lost 1-2 to newcomers Mkhosana.

Chiefs got their goals from Gabriel Nyoni and former Zimbabwe youth international Proud Zireni while the much travelled Golden Munandi was on target for Saints.

Former top-flight side Bantu Rovers trail the log leaders by six points after their 4-0 demolition of Quelaton in the curtain raiser to the Chiefs and Saints encounter.

The speedy Brian “Chikwata” Mpala, Blessing Ngwenya and double scorer Njabulo Sibanda were on target for Rovers.
