Mugadza happy with prep time

HARARE - Zimbabwe women football coach Rosemary Mugadza has expressed satisfaction with her team’s preparations ahead of their next month’s tour of Uruguay.

The Mighty Warriors were invited for a five-team tournament that involves hosts Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Argentina between March 4 and 10.

The team went into camp last week without two of their key players – Rudo Neshamba and Rufaro Machingura – but the Cosafa-winning coach says they have enough replacements for the duo.

“Our preparations are going on well although we are missing two of our influential players. The girls are doing well and they are very excited about the tournament,” Mugadza said.

“Rufaro is solving some personal problems and might still join camp this week but Rudo is now playing in Botswana and given the short space of time, we decided to excuse her.

“We are hoping to play a friendly match tomorrow (today) against Sprouting or SR Villa as we take a step further in our preparations.”

The former Mighty Warriors skipper said friendlies of this magnitude will help assess readiness.

The Mighty Warriors will be involved in important assignments, which include the Africa Cup of Nations, World Cup and Olympic qualifiers next year and are using every opportunity that arises to stay in shape. - Godknows Matarutse
