Churchill maintain pole position

HARARE - Churchill High consolidated their lead in Super Seven Harare Basketball League after beating Gateway on Wednesday.

Churchill outclassed Gateway 55-34 to maintain a two-point lead ahead of joint second-placed Prince Edward and Cornway College.

In other midweek games, Prince Edward beat Mufakose 2 High 60-55 at Mufakose.

The league, which is being played on a home- and-away basis, is yet to secure sponsorship.

 Fixtures director Sledge Chibyoka said:

“Schools are all excited by this development which we are sure will go a long way in fostering the development of basketball at the school level. This is the future of professional basketball. All the world class players you know started like this.”

Chinyoka, who is also teacher-in-charge of basketball at Prince Edward, says his team is aiming for the title.

“We have a very good side, one player to take note of is Patrick Nhamburo, who is in the national Undr-17 side.” - Blessings Mashaya
