Bob 89 fund-raising dinner dates set

HARARE - Organisers of the Bob Super Cup celebrations have shifted the fund-raising dinner of the tournament to February 6.

The dinner was originally set for February 8 but tournament co-ordinator Stan Kasukuwere said they have rescheduled the function due to some commitments.

“We have rescheduled our Bob 89 fund-raising dinner to the 6th of February because our Guest of Honour, minister of Mines and Mineral Development (Obert Mpofu) has excused himself.

“The venue and time remains the same,” Kasukuwere told reporters at a press briefing yesterday.

Now in its third year running, the football competition is part of the celebrations of President Robert Mugabe’s birthday which falls on February 21.

Last year, the tournament had four teams taking part — Dynamos, Hwange, Motor Action and eventual winners FC Platinum.

This year will, however, see Highlanders and Dynamos squaring off in a two legged final.

The first leg is set for February 10 in Bulawayo while the second leg will be played at Rufaro Stadium on February 24. - Sports Writer
