Music producer Jusa gets marketing degree

HARARE - Leading Zimbabwean music producer Jusa Dementor recently graduated from University of Derby in the United Kingdom with a joint honours degree in marketing and broadcast media.

The former Kutama College whose real name is Tawanda Sibotshiwe, is confident that his newly acquired qualification will enhance his work as a music producer and videographer

“Being a performing artist or a producer can be comfortable way of supporting yourself and your family but with education the world can be in your palms”, the popular musician told the Daily News yesterday.

Despite accomplishing a rare honour of producing a compilation album featuring Jamaican artistes that was featured prominently on BBC 1 Extra, Jusa believes the world is at his feet. The former Kutama schoolboy intends to use his new knowledge to set up structures that can help export Zimbabwean urban music to the international market.

“I have always been deeply involved in the Zimbabwe dancehall industry and I feel as Zimbabwe we have the same potential to export our urban culture in the same way the American hip hop and Jamaican reggae and dancehall genres have impacted urban culture all over the world.”

Jusa, who directed Stunner’s Sele mama music video which reached number seven on MTV Base in January, attributes his success to his fear for God.

“I wouldn't have been privileged enough to be in the position I am in and getting the chance to represent my nation as well as being a positive influence to the youth of Africa”, said Jusa who was made the brand ambassador of Econet Mobile UK in 2010. - Entertainment Writer
