Is he CAPS' new Mr Goals?

HARARE - Free-scoring striker Dominic Chungwa – who plundered 34 goals in division one football last season – now wants to help his new club CAPS United reclaim its glory years.

The prolific forward joined the Green Machine from Hippo Valley this month following a splendid season in which he run riot for the Eastern Region division one outfit.

Chungwa’s desire for goals is insatiable, having totalled 19 for Hippo Valley the previous year.

“I feel happy now to be part of the CAPS United family and I just want to give my best and help the club achieve success again,” he said.

The 24-year-old marksman is expected to provide the cutting edge to United’s attack, a department which was terribly out of shape last season.

The deadly striker arrives at the Harare side a very highly-rated player following his inspired performances for Hippo Valley.

His goals saw the club fight neck-and-neck with Triangle United for the sole promotion slot, losing that battle to the later in the homestretch of the season.

His scoring exploits, naturally, attracted interest from up the pyramid, and Chungwa settled for Makepekepe.

“Truth is I really loved it at Hippo Valley. I had developed a strong bond with team, it was a difficult decision for me to leave, but the opportunity to further my career was there and I had to take it,” he said.

At CAPS, the Hwange-born forward will be reunited with former Eagles striking partner Clive Kawinga.

He will, however, be hoping for better luck than Kawinga, who has struggled for form at the Green Machine.

United, who last won the Zimbabwean league title in 2005, are aiming to end that barren spell, with club president Twine Phiri promising a return to better days.
