Tripple B to bolster squad

HARARE - Newly-promoted Castle Premiership side Tripple B will hold trials tomorrow as the club seeks to reinforce their squad for the upcoming 2013 season.

Tripple B coach Friday “Amayenge” Phiri, who also guided Monomotapa into the Premiership in 2004, said the Beitbridge outfit is looking to acquire at least eight new players with top-flight experience.

“We are targeting players who are 23 years and below. We are looking at signing six youngsters and eight quality players with Premiership experience,” Phiri told Daily News yesterday.

“We want to avoid early exit from the league and our main priority will be to maintain our status in the league then we can start challenging for honours afterwards.

“There are players whom we are targeting but I can’t reveal their names as yet as it might jeopardise our preparations and plans.

“We are looking at assembling a team that can compete in the Premiership because we want to avoid a situation where we become punching bags. We want to add at least two players in each department. There are some players who could be shown the exit door but we are sticking with most of the guys who did business in division one.”

Irvin Tinarwo, Ali Kazembe, Webster Chingodza, Thomas Kombora, Lloyd Chiwaridzo and Arman Makiwa are some of the players who helped Tripple B gain promotion and are expected to feature for the Beitbridge side in the PSL this year. - Godknows Matarutse
