Mahachi is our player: Bantu

HARARE - Bantu Rovers have moved to clear the air on 2012 Castle Premiership Rookie of the Year Kuda Mahachi, saying the young midfielder belongs to the division one outfit and not Chicken Inn.

The Zimbabwe youth international was on a one-year loan deal at top-flight side Chicken Inn, which expired on December 31.

“We loaned Kuda to Chicken Inn but he is now back with us,” said Bantu Rovers secretary Wilbert Sibanda.
Mahachi was a revelation at the Gamecocks under the late Adam Ndlovu and became a club favourite because of his dribbling prowess.

But most significantly, the Young Warriors star helped Chicken Inn to a credible third place finish on the Castle Premiership standings.

He capped his fine run after walking away with the Most Promising Under-20 Player award at the PSL end-of-the-season awards last month.

Mahachi has since been on the radar of a number of top-flight clubs with CAPS United leading the race to land his signature.

“Yes, there has been talk that CAPS and other clubs are interested in him but so far we have had no formal communication,” said Sibanda.

“As far as I am concerned, Kuda is a Bantu player and we expect him at training next week on Tuesday.”
