Woman arrested over late hubby's estate

HARARE - A Murewa woman who allegedly sold her late husband’s estate at the expense of seven children has been arrested on fraud charges.

The 45 years old Barbra Gweshe yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe, who freed her on $100 bail.

According to court papers, Gweshe became the executor to her late husband’s estate in 2000.

Gweshe was later replaced by one of her husband’s children, Innocent, in 2004 after reports that she was neglecting the children.

The court heard that in 2010 Gweshe fraudulently changed ownership of the family house and sold it for $35 000, thereby prejudicing the children.

Magistrate Mahwe ordered Gweshe to report to police once every week as part of her bail conditions.
