Magorimbo keen to sign new Dynamos deal

HARARE - Dynamos fullback Thomas Magorimbo has said he is keen to extend his two-year stay at the Glamour Boys.

The 27-year-old will be out of contract at the end of next month, and will seek an extension to his current deal in the New Year.

The utility player, who can play at right-back or in central midfield, says he wants to stay with the record Zimbabwe champions for “many years.”

The former Kiglon defender says his loyalty to the Harare giants remains undiminished.

"I'm happy here, on and off the pitch, I want to stay here for many years. Hopefully, I will soon sign a new contract,”Magorimbo told the Daily News yesterday.

“I’m happy here and they are happy with me. I’m DeMbare through and through; even if I get offers from elsewhere, I will try to put Dynamos first. The team and the fans have been really good to me, and I think I have been really good to them. Dynamos is my second home and I will always deliver for them.”

Magorimbo and centre-back Patson Jaure were the most consistent defenders for Dynamos in the just-ended season while Gift Bello also played reasonably well since skipper Guthrie Zhokinyi was banned in the later stages of the season after being found guilty of match-fixing in the Asiagate scam.

The new defensive partnership worked wonders for Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa, ensuring cover for rookie goalkeeper George Chigova.

Only Hwange, who lost 4-2 to the champions in May, scored more than once past Dynamos.

“We deserved to win the league if you look at the way we played the whole season. We can all see that it was a great season for DeMbare. Everyone in the Dynamos family is happy,” added Magorimbo. - Blessings Mashaya
