Man fatally strikes wife with knob carry

HARARE - A Harare man who allegedly murdered his wife over infidelity claims has appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court.

Sebestian Satero, 33, allegedly killed his wife Rennie Jakarasi, 27, whom he suspected of having an extra-marital affair.

The court heard that Satero and Jakarasi started staying together as a couple in May this year, but had no children together.

According to state papers, Jakarasi had one child from her previous marriage.

During their stay, it is alleged that Satero started suspecting that Jakarasi was dating another man who resides in the same neighbourhood.

Prosecutor Tungamirai Chakurira told the court that the two had a heated argument over the issue in September, this year.

Satero allegedly assaulted Jakarasi with a knobkerrie.

Jakarasi died instantly, the court was told.

Satero allegedly covered Jakarasi’s body with a cloth before burning all the stained clothes and the knobkerrie which he used to assault the deceased.

The matter came to light after an informant saw the deceased’s child crying.

She then investigated and discovered Jakarasi’s body lying lifeless on the floor with multiple injuries.

A police report was made leading to Satero’s arrest.

Magistrate Don Ndirowei remanded Satero in custody to December 12 for trial. - Irvine Zhakata
