Ansa nominations today

HARARE - Nominations for the 2011-12 Annual National Sports Awards (Ansa) will be unveiled at the National Sports Stadium in Harare today.

The finalists will battle it out in 14 categories with the winners set to be announced at a ceremony in the capital on December 13.

Chief sponsors Delta Beverages have handed over $50 000 for the awards, running this year under the theme “A heart for success.”

“Delta Corporation has once again demonstrated their commitment by injecting $50 000, other sponsors are being pursued so that we make the event more glamorous and appealing,” Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) corporate communications officer Tirivashe Nheweyembwa said yesterday.

The purpose of Ansa is to recognise Zimbabwean sports people who would have performed exceptionally well at national, regional, continental and world championship level.

National sports associations are responsible for nominating their athletes. The SRC also tracks the performance of the athletes, technical and coaching staff during the year under review.
