Bantu Rovers one game away

HARARE - Bantu Rovers sustained their title charge with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Sizani Fruits last Saturday and are just one game away from making a return to the Castle Premiership.

Aaron Nyaruviro was the hero for the Methembe Ndlovu-owned side after coming on as a substitute and scoring a memorable hat-trick. The other goals came from Abraham Mbaiwa, Ezra Siyaduba and Elvis Moyo.

Tshintsha Guluva has 69 points from 31 matches and enjoys a one point lead over second placed How Mine while pre-season favourites ZPC Hwange sit in third position with 67 points.

Lowly Rufaro Rovers stand between Bantu and a return to the Premiership when the two sides clash in a battle of the Rovers at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

Victory for Bantu would see them join Northern Region champions Black Rhinos, Eastern Region winners Triangle and Central Region’s Triple B as the four teams promoted into the Premier League for the 2013 season.

Southern Region Division One debutants Tsholotsho overcame fallen giants Zimbabwe Saints 1-0 to cement their stay in the country’s second tier.

Former Highlanders and Hardbody player Kudzanai Machazane scored the all-important goal for Tsholotsho who are under the tutelage of Lizwe Sweswe. - Sakheleni Nxumalo
