Telecel launches 100pc bonus promotion

HARARE - Telecel Zimbabwe (Telecel) has revealed a new promotion were customers will now receive 100 percent bonus airtime whenever they use a scratch card or electronic voucher to recharge, no matter the denomination.

Customers will also receive free text messages whenever they load airtime worth $2 or more.

The bonus on net airtime and messages was introduced on Friday in a new promotion dubbed the Mega Magic Promotion, which effectively extends the 100 percent bonus that customers obtain when using the one dollar Mega Juice card to all Telecel airtime scratch cards or vouchers.

As with the Mega Juice card, the bonus airtime is available for Telecel to Telecel calls once the main airtime balance has been used up.

The bonus airtime is valid for between seven and 20 days, depending on the value of the scratch card or voucher.

The number of free messages, for texting other Telecel subscribers, varies according to the value of the card, ranging from six messages with the $2 dollar card to 60 messages with the $20 card.

Telecel marketing director Octivius Kahiya said the promotion had been launched in response to requests from subscribers making use of the popular $1 Mega Juice card, who asked why the Mega Juice bonus airtime could not be available on higher denomination cards.

“The Mega Magic Promotion answers this, by providing bonus airtime equivalent to the value of the card. That means, for instance, a person using the $20 scratch card receives, in addition to $20 worth of cross net airtime, $20 worth of bonus on net airtime, which can be used to call other Telecel subscribers when the $20 cross-net airtime is used up,” he said.

“On top of that the $20 card includes 60 free messages that can be used to send text messages to other Telecel subscribers.

“Telecel prides itself on its customer focus and coming up with promotions and products that give customers added value. This promotion gives our subscribers even better value than ever before,” he said.

The Mega Magic promotion has already been touted as one that gives unparalleled value for any telecommunications services being offered on the local scene. It gives more benefits over a longer period of time and covers all the recharge cards and vouchers from Telecel.

Best value for money is one of the core values Telecel adopted when it re-branded in February.

The Marketing Association of Zimbabwe (Maz) also named Telecel Zimbabwe as the first runner-up for the Outstanding Promotional Campaign Award for its re-branding campaign.

The award is part of the Maz’s Marketing Excellence Awards held in Victoria Falls in October.

Among the various other value-added services and attractive promotions Telecel has introduced this year is its Emergency Credit facility, which enables active subscribers to obtain airtime on credit when they run out of it and have no access to an airtime card or voucher.

The company was also the first in Zimbabwe to introduce songs and tunes that can be substituted for the ringing tone that a caller hears when dialling one’s number.

It has been running the Mega Promo promotion that gives subscribers who enter it an opportunity to win prizes that include Samsung Galaxy Y PRO cellphones, Samsung Galaxy S2 cellphones, HP 630 laptops and the grand prize of a Madza BT50 double cab, which will be awarded at the end of the promotion.

Fairly this year, the company won the Zimbabwe Institute of Management Award for Excellence in Customer Care and was recently named runner-up for the Zimbabwe Service Excellence Award in the ICT and Telecommunications Sector.

Chief executive, Francis Mawindi, was named runner-up for the Zimbabwe Service Excellence Award for the Most Customer-Focused Executive.
