Your Questions Answered by Chicken Inn defender Felix Chidungwe

HARARE - For a player who was a goalkeeper throughout his secondary education and only became a defender after he left school, Chicken Inn’s Felix Chindungwe deserves special mention.

The 30-year-old defender, who has partnered Hebert Dick to form a very formidable central defence pairing at the Gamecocks, has really blossomed since joining  the Bulawayo club in 2011.

Who was your favourite footballer as youngster? Ben Gororo, Bulawayo

Thulani “Biya”Ncube, a former Highlanders defender, was my idol. His simple type of football was a great inspiration to me.

Who is Felix Chindungwe the footballer? Godfrey Phiri, Beit Bridge

It all started at Matshabezulu Primary School in Tshabalala when I was in Grade 3. I was a right winger then while Mkhokeli Dube, my friend and classmate, was a striker.

In 1997 I then went to Embakwe Mission in Plumtree where I became a goalkeeper because the in-field players were just too big for me.

Throughout my secondary education I was a goalie. I only began playing as defender after my secondary school education when I joined Lo-Cliff, a division two team.

My next team was another Bulawayo-based division two team called Tagarira before joining division one side Piggot Maskew.

In 2006 I went to Beitbridge to join Underhill who were then in division one under the late Lindile Dube.

The next year Underhill got promoted into the Premier League. In 2009 Moses Chunga lured me to Shooting Stars but I was only there for a year before joining my current team Chicken Inn in 2011.

What do you consider to be the highlight of your football career? Godfrey Phiri, Beitbridge
