'Unqualified coaches to be barred'

HARARE - Mashonaland West Junior League chairperson Zacky Banda has issued a stern warning to coaches who practise without certificates, threatening to kick them out of all forms of grassroots football.

Banda, who was officiating at the Bronzegate and L.M Furnishers Under-14 tournament won by Black Rhinos in Norton on Sunday, said junior football structures were being dragged backwards by unqualified coaches.

“Next year no one will coach a team in this province nomatter how small it is.

“If you don’t have at least a level one coaching certificate, then you are posing our talent and leading our children astray,” he said.

Black Rhinos won the cup after beating Aspire Football Club 2-0 at Ngoni Stadium.

Meanwhile, the George Mtongwizo-owned Bronzegate Investments said the company is determined to see the tournament grow in coming years by increasing the sponsorship package.
